Drug Indication
The following are the medication’s indications:
1. In patients who are ventilated and intubated, as an additional analgesic to maintain a balanced general anesthetic.
2. In order to provide a favorable myocardial and cerebral oxygen balance or when extended postoperative ventilation is anticipated, as the principal anesthetic agent for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia with 100% oxygen in patients undergoing major surgical procedures, intubated and ventilated patients, such as cardiovascular surgery or neurosurgical procedures, in the sitting position.
3. For the administration of bupivacaine at low doses (typically 12.5 mg per administration) in conjunction with epidural analgesics during labor and vaginal delivery
4. The sublingual form is indicated for the management of acute pain in adults that is severe enough to warrant the use of an opioid analgesic in certified medically supervised healthcare settings, including hospitals, surgical centers, and emergency departments.
